I obtained my doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Kansas City university of medicine and biosciences. I then went on to complete a general surgery internship and residency at plaza medical center of Fort Worth. During that time, I trained in metabolic and bariatric surgery. I really enjoyed learning about how health and nutrition are used in conjunction with surgical intervention to treat metabolic illnesses and obesity related comorbid conditions such as diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and sleep apnea to name a few. I then chose to go onto complete a fellowship in metabolic surgery at the University of South Florida at Tampa General Hospital. I became a fellow of the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in 2016. After a decade of practice in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the field of metabolic surgery as a board-certified general surgeon, I still love optimizing health via nutrition and exercise.
